Alexis Elliott, LCSW, LISW-CP, CDE, with Diabetes and Obesity Treatment Strategies, has partnered with the Diabetes Wellness Council to provide a unique and much needed service.
Behavioral health is an important component of overall health, and plays an integral role in diabetes care. Diabetes and Obesity Treatment Strategies specializes in mental health, and behavioral and lifestyle challenges among people with diabetes and those at risk for diabetes. Based upon individualized treatment plans, both traditional counseling and behavioral coaching are offered.
Alexis is a licensed clinical social worker, a certified diabetes educator, and health education specialist. She is the first and (currently) only provider in the state of South Carolina recognized by the American Diabetes Association's mental health provider directory, which designates clinicians who are experienced in the struggles unique to diabetes. Her motto is "Don't just survive with diabetes...thrive!"
Alexis is from the Grand Strand and has recently relocated back to the Myrtle Beach area. She earned her bachelor's of science in health promotion from Coastal Carolina University and achieved her masters in social work from University of North Carolina Wilmington. She has worked for many years as a behavioral health coach for a North Carolina hospital in outpatient diabetes and nutrition, bariatrics, transition care, and community health services. Throughout her career, she has helped more than one thousand individuals, given numerous presentations, and her work has been published and made headlines.
The Diabetes Wellness Council is a 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated to educating people affected by diabetes and improving management and lifestyle.

Come connect with others who are going through the same issues, get advice, insight, and of course, lots of support. This is a support group for all dealing with diabetes. Type 1, Type 2,
gestational, and even care givers.We will be scheduling guest speakers and will provide refreshments. $5 recommended donation. The group will meet the first Tuesday of every month at 6pm (excluding holidays).
